The Forum was established in April 1998 following a meeting of local residents who shared a common concern to ensure that local facilities were improved - against a background of derelict shops and a palpable fear of crime and focused on the needs and welfare of the wider community, incorporating improved youth provision and quality of life for the large elderly population.
After more than 15 years in the planning we are so pleased and excited to see our brand new Community Hub nearing completion.
We are waiting on the final utilities being connected and the finishing touches before we start to move in.
Our brand new Community Hub will house your new Library together with all our WDCF services including adult learning, dementia cafes, health and well-being support, social groups and much more to come.
We have been working hard behind the scenes on bringing every one of our projects together in the new hub.
We can wait to share all our new ideas at the launch, however we don't have a final date for completion but as soon as we do we will share it with you.
Our amazing team of staff and volunteers are working hard to get everything prepared for the move. Once we get the green lights we will get straight to work and be open as soon as possible.
We would love to hear your ideas of what you would like to see from your new community hub, drop us a message on Facebook or email us at mail@mywoodhouse.co.uk
The Forum organises a wide range of events, activities and training courses available to all to the residents of Woodhouse. Though the forum is a democratic member based organisation, it holds free access public meetings 10 times each year, excluding August and December. In order to function efficiently, a small executive body has been formed to enable decision making to be effective and speedy. The board meets regularly but sometimes it is necessary to convene at short notice to enable decisions to be made which facilitate the efficient working of the organisation.
